I've spent countless hours searching the web looking for textures that not only look nice, but don't require the colors of the text and links to be changed until they fit. I've decided to compile a number of textures that not only make a web page look good, but also are soft enough that black writing will appear on them. Hope this saves you some time.
As far as I know, all these textures are free. If you find otherwise, please contact me immediately so the appropriate action can be taken. You can reach me at brianwts@aol.com If you have any questions or comments, please send them along.I recommend getting a copy of Netscape Navigator. There are so many web browsers out there that I'll only describe the method for downloading with Netscape. Most other browsers should be about the same. In the future, things will be easier to download.
With Netscape, you need to simply click and hold on the picture you'd like to download. A box will appear with the option "Save this image..." (or something to that effect) Highlight that choice and choose a place to save the image on your hard drive. Your browser should do the rest.
As of now, this site will also have a page for links to other cool web sites. If you'd like your URL added to the list, all you have to do is add a link to this page on your site. Basically, I'll trade you a link for a link. For now, the links page is broken up into texture links and other links. I'll do some better catagorizing when I've got more links.

For a good site that utilizes a number of these textures, check out Shadow Magazine.
