Prerequisites: There is no prerequisite for this class, however, recommended courses include Math 150A, BMG 54, or equivalent. Attendance: Students will be held responsible for all material covered in lectures/online chapter notes, in addition to assignments and group activities. Information vital to the completion of assignments or exams may be given at any time during the lecture period. Daily attendance will be taken. Online students are required to browse the course website at least three times a week to check for announcements and or course content ! Adherence to the schedule is of utmost IMPORTANCE....(ie suggested dates for covering chapter content, due dates for group work and assignments) and If you find you will not be able to attend a scheduled test, you must make arrangements BEFORE the test with me for a special test, otherwise a score of zero will be recorded for your grade.
Reading\Assignments\Group Activities: The textbook chapter reading
assignments (including online chapter notes) should be done prior to the
class that covers that topic. By doing the reading ahead of time, you will
have a better understanding of the lectures/online chapter notes and will
be able to raise questions concerning the text while we are covering that
material in class or online. Exam Information:
Discussion Forum: Students enrolled in the online section (Sec#5414) are required to use the discussion forum (aka. group discussion areas) to complete all group activities. Students enrolled in the traditional lecture/lab section (Sec#4507) are also encouraged to participate in the CIS 66: Class Discussion Area (message lists) in one or more of the following ways: post a question, respond to a question or comment and or post pertinent information regarding course content/current topic. Please note that separate message lists for group activities are set-up for ONLINE students. Grading: A course grade will be calculated based on 500 total points weighted to the following percentages: Assignments and Group Activities 60% (300 points), Midterm 20% (100 points), and Final 20% (100 points). It is your responsibility to drop this class at the Admissions and Records Office per the following drop policy for Spring 2008 courses...."Last day to drop a class without a "W" symbol (February 9, 2008) and with a "W" symbol (April 26, 2008)." If you are considering dropping, please see me before you do; arrangements can often be made so that dropping isn’t necessary. Letter grades will be assigned based on total points from exams and assignments. To calculate your grade, divide the total points awarded by the total points possible. Santa Rosa Junior College does not have + or - grades. In cases where a grade is borderline, class attendance may be used to help determine the final grade. Grades will be assigned as follows:
