CIS 66 - Management Information Systems (Sec #5414) ONLINE Students
a note from you instructor:
"Participitation in the CIS 66 class discussion forum (for all) as
well as 4 assigned group discussion areas (aka. message lists)……is not
intended to be an exercise in frustration but is an attempt to help us learn
to work in collaborative environments that stress team work to successfully
complete projects…this is often the case when working on real world
business/work related projects.
We are trying to simulate what generally
goes on in the traditional class face-to-face format where students
are encouraged to ask questions, bring up issues for class discussion
and also to work together in groups (three to four), primarily, to
complete group work projects. Assuming everyone has read the
information related to the specific group work exercise ….the actual
in class group work activity takes about 30 minutes …at which point
each group submits one sheet with the groups response to the assigned
group work activity.
If you have never used a message list ...I would encourage you to read
the general guidelines on
"Using a Message List" available on our CATE system
You have been
assigned to a group and should use your specific group discussion
areas to introduce yourselves and to discuss the issues related to the
ten assigned group work activities...with the intent to provide a brief
group response to the projects questions. DO NOT send your final
group responses to me but simply post it on your message list...identifying
the group work project number as in....Group Work#1 - Window on
Organization (CEMEX)/Window on Technology (UPS) - pgs 14 &
17.......!!!
The course schedule
provides links to information sheets that detail each group work
activity. Please make a special effort to to post your input (or
contribution) to the group activity in your assigned group
discussion area in a timely manner.
Use the message list for group work only and not for your individual
assignments.
Towards the end of the
semester....groups may also consider using the group discussion area
to help with putting together the final presentations (ie., case study
analysis/multi-media project on two specific cases from a selected
list of cases).
*for problems with
message lists send email to
