Event

The 2010 Annual Meeting of the Northern California Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology, to be held on Saturday, March 6.

Getting There

The Music Center at UC Santa Cruz is most easily reached via the west entrance to campus. Coming from the north, follow Route 17 to Route 1 and make sure that you follow signs for Half Moon Bay and downtown (NOT the beach). You will go straight through one light (River St.) and then make a right on Mission, the next light. Stay on mission until the 3rd traffic light, which is Bay St (you'll see a big sign for a Surf shop on your right). Make a right on Bay St. and at the 2nd traffic light make a left on High St. (This is instead of going straight through the light to get to the main entrance). Follow High St. as it curves around campus (and turns into Empire Grade) and make the 2nd right into the west entrance to campus. Then follow the road until the 4th stop sign, where you will see signs directing you to the Music Center on the right. The Music Center is the complex of sand colored buildings furthest from the road you just turned off of. To get to where the conference is, walk past the Recital Hall on your right and the Gamelan studio on your left and go into the last building with glass doors. Then walk down the stairs to the right and you should be able to see the performance studio that is where the conference will be held.

Parking

Park in the parking lot adjacent to the Music Center and use the automatic machines to pay the $3 parking fee.

Lunch

Lunch will not be provided; attendees will be provided information about and encouraged to carpool to nearby restaurants.

Business Agenda

  1. Vote on two bylaws changes: to ensure that all are eligible to run for Vice President, and to change the selection procedures for the Marnie Dilling Prize from a business meeting vote to adjudication by committee. Those who plan to attend the business meeting are encouraged to read the proposed bylaws changes in advance. To view them, click here.
  2. Elect three new chapter officers to two-year terms: Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Student Representative. Duties for these positions are described in our current bylaws, available here.
