Fixing Red Eye within a Photo

Red eye is probably the most common problem with amateur photos. Here is my approach.

I began with this photo of my daughter, she has a bad case of "red eye". I zoomed in, used the lasso tool with a feather of 2, and selected the eye on the left. Next I held down the shift key and selected the right eye. You could also use the elliptical marquee to select the areas.

Access the Image menu > Adjust > Hue saturation. To turn the red area to brown, I started by adjusting Hue. Then I adjusted the Lightness control, bye bye, red eye.

Now the eye color is more natural.

While we are on the subject of eye color. If you want to know what you will look like with corrective contacts, this is the place to find out. Here is Jennifer with those blue eyes she's always wanted.
