2. Enter Text (I used Palatino, 100 px, Bold). A sans-serif font will work with this logo.
4. Add new layer, move new layer under the text layer. Create box with marquee tool which surrounds the text.
5. Fill with one of the colors planned for background (I used gold CC9933)
6. Lock the transparency for the gold layer by selecting
the lock icon located at the top left corner of layers palette.
7. Next place another color in the foreground (I used aqua 339999),
with lasso tool drag around the inside of the letter D, making sure you are not outside
of the letter.
8. Fill with aqua.
9. After all the aqua areas are filled in I place a plum color (9933CC) in the foreground. As I select the area between the "D" and the "W" I am fairly sloppy, wandering above and below the gold rectangle. This is not a problem because the preserve transparency feature of the layer, ensures that the fill color will not stray beyond the gold.
10. Here is the logo with letters turned on and also with letters turned off. As you can see the color
areas can be sloppy and imprecise.
10. I crop the logo and notice that the colored area is a little larger than the letters.
I can see purple, green and gold pixels above and below the letters. I can try and crop again,
but
cropping out one of two pixels can be difficult.
11. I decide to crop by controlling the size of the canvas. Image > Canvas Size > reduce the
height by 2 pixels. Now my logo is EXACTLY the size I need.
