Welcome to class!!

This class was designed to help you create attractive, functional, and professional Web sites for your own personal sites, or for clients.

As you work through the class you will be learning about Cascading Style Sheets, XHTML, and Photoshop. At times this class will seem like a "code heavy" course, while other lessons will have you spending all your time in Photoshop.

Now that Web Browsers effectively implement CSS code, the way we design Web sites has dramatically changed. In the "old days" designers created complex Photoshop documents, with dozens of layers and then produced hundreds of slices. Then we created nested tables and JavaScript to display all these slices. Pages were filled with table code and JavaScript. Image folders ran into several MBs.

Today's Web Designer needs to be as proficient with HTML, and CSS as they are with Photoshop. CSS can now handle our layout needs so there is not longer a need for slices or nested tables. The "hover" state has replaced the need for Javascript rollovers. Finally, nested lists can produce drop down and pop out menu which are simply nested lists and CSS code.

This class uses code and software in each lesson, I hope you will find it useful as expand your Web Design skills.
