NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT 10
CONSERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MAGAZINE ARTICLE SUMMARIES
Summer, 1996
1) ARTICLE SELECTION
Current articles, at least two pages in length and pertaining only to the general
subject matter of natural resource conservation, will be selected from one of the
periodicals on the list. Do not select editorials, opinion pieces, commentaries,
or book reviews for your articles. No more than two articles will be allowed from one periodical
source, and no article will be more than six months old (December, 1995). A xerox
copy of the entire article will be stapled in the upper left-hand corner
to the back of the summary sheet (s). No originals
of the article will be accepted.
2) SUMMARY STRUCTURE
The summary will consist of two paragraphs. The first paragraph will be the article
summary itself. The second paragraph will be an opinion paragraph in which you will
express your concerns, likes, dislikes, or experiences regarding the subject matter
of the article. You may also use the opinion paragraph to critique the author's style.
Both the opinion and summary paragraphs will be labeled. The entire summary will
be a maximum of two pages in length, skipping a line, and written in pen, or one
page in length, double spaced when typed. Write or type on one side of page only. The first page
will have the date and source of the article in the upper right-hand corner.
3) GRADING
A maximum of fifteen (15) points per article summary will be offered. Seven (7) summaries
will be due during the semester. Therefore, the total points for article summaries
will be 105. The articles will be graded on content, spelling, grammar, and neatness of presentation.
4) DUE DATES
The summaries are due no later than 9:10 AM on the dates listed below and on the course
outline. No late papers will be accepted for any reason.
