I grew up swimming here in Santa Rosa on local teams including: the Santa Rosa Neptunes, Montgomery High School, and Santa Rosa Junior College. I continued my competitive swimming at UC Davis and I still swim with the Santa Rosa Masters Teams. After teaching English and coaching at Piner High School for seven years, I made the transistion into community college teaching and athletics here at SRJC. My favorite thing about coaching is watching my athletes improve as students and players, and laughing on the deck and in the pool. I recently graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Master's Degree in Education, with an emphasis in Athletes and Academic Achievement, in which I studied the unique physical, mental, and academic challenges faced by intercollegiate athletes in our country; as well as, ways in which to be an effecitve academic adviser for student athletes. When I am not coaching or teaching, I spend most of my time with my husband Peter, also a former bear cub swimmer and polo player, and my two sons Lucas and Jack.

    EDUCATION
  • MA in Kinesiology, Sonoma State University, 2001
  • BA in Sports Management, University of the Pacific, 1994
I grew up playing basketball and swimming here in Sonoma County. I went to UOP on a basketball scholarship, but was injured during my first season, and turned to the sport of water polo. I played for UOP's women's team for three years and was an All American my senior season. I still swim and play today. Along with my coaching, I am in my second year as a physical education instructor here at SRJC, I am a certified massage therapist, and I am currently working toward becoming a fire fighter in the bay area.
