Week One Homework Assignment- due January 21

  1. Purchase textbook- Dreamweaver CS4 Digital Classroom by Jeremy Osborn, Wiley Publishers, ISBN: 978-0-470-41092-9.
  2. Read textbook (pp.1-33)
  3. Install the following browsers and plug-ins on your computer at home:
    1. Web Browsers installed on your home computer:
      1. Firefox 2 or later (PC and Mac)

      3. Safari (Mac, PC optional)

Week Two Homework Assignment- due January 28

  1. Complete the following Getting Started with Dreamweaver CS4 simulations
    1. Introducing the Dreamweaver workspaces
    2. Setting up your site and project files
    3. Creating a new document
  2. Read textbook and complete all exercises (pp.35-65)
  3. Read the article Defining your site in Dreamweaver
    OPTIONAL -- Watch Setting up an Account and Defining a Site (38 MB)
  4. Export your site settings and export your site definitions to your removable media or on your computer at home
  5. Examine the Dreamweaver A Homework Examples web pages
  6. Create an original first page titled index.html (6 pts.) with one or more paragraphs describing yourself to me and explaining what you hope to get out of this class. Include links to all future homework pages-- hw2-hw5.html and final_project.html. Note: The links do not have to work until the future pages are built. If you are confused, examine the Homework One Example page.
  7. Upload your web page to your web site using the FTP tools inside Dreamweaver
  8. Fill out the form to insert a link to the Student Homework Page
  9. Email me with your name and section number in the body of the email. Attach your site definition file (it will be an .ste
    file) to your email. Subject heading: Dreamweaver A site definition. Note: This is the ONLY email you will send this semester. All assignments will be checked via your index.html page.Back to top

Week Three Homework Assignment- due February 4

  1. Read textbook and complete all exercises (pp.67-94)
  2. Complete the following simulations at Getting Started with Dreamweaver CS4
    1. Setting page properties
    2. Inserting an image placeholder
    3. Inserting text
    4. Inserting images
  3. Examine the Week Three Homework Examples web pages
  4. Create a new page called hw2.html and modify it to include (8 points):
    1. Page property changes; background and text color (1 pt)
    2. Title (1 pt)
    3. One image (any image no greater than 400 x400 pixels at a screen resolution of 72 ppi) as a link to hw3.html (1 pt)
    4. A one paragraph summary of an article you find on Dreamweaver CS4 with a link to the article. (2 pts)
    5. Create the following list types based on the information on the Dreamweaver Welcome Screen (3 points)
      1. an ordered list listing the first three items under Create New
      2. an unordered list listing the first three items under Top Features
      3. Create a definition list that defines the meaning of the term image placeholder (textbook definition-pp.89)

    1. Summarize the article "Why use CSS?" in 3 or more full sentences (3 pts)
    2. Place an image and create a css class to make the image float right (3 pts)

  1. Read textbook and complete all exercises (pp.127-159)
  2. Use the Web Developer toolbar to examine the CSS and html elements in the Week Five Examples page.
  3. (8 points) Create a page titled hw4.html based on textbook Lesson 5 layout.html page exercises (they begin on page 132) Include all of the following elements: Note: All of the design elements below need to be in an EMBEDDED style sheet.
  4. A logo/banner no greater than 100 pixels in height
  5. Answers to all the questions in the div#main and the div#sidebar
