Bruce Purcell's Classes

FAQs Page

Expectations for myself

  1. I will provide as much information to you as possible on the class syllabus and schedule.
  2. I will do my best to respond promptly to emails and give you personal, hands-on help during office hours.
  3. I will grade homework in a timely manner.
  4. I will use exam questions that represent what we have covered in the course and grade your homework assignments as fairly as possible.

Expectations for students

  1. Complete the CATE check-in process. If you do not check-in within two weeks of the beginning of class you may be dropped.
  2. Read ALL of the material on my website: syllabus, schedule, FAQs.
  3. Read chapters, watch online videos, when applicable, and complete assignments by their due date.
  4. Post your questions and Photoshop tips to the Forum.

Getting help

  1. Use Photoshop Help, the textbook, and experimentation to help solve your problem. Stop after 30 minutes and take a break if you still cannot make any progress.
  2. Post your question or problem on the Forum. Other students can often help and they may get credit for their forum participation .
  3. Take advantage of one-on-one time with your instructor during office hours.
  4. Email me with simple questions only. Put your section number in the Subject line and make sure your name is in the email. It is not a good way to deal with complex problems; use the office hours instead.

Homework

  1. Homework tends to take longer than we expect; give yourself ample time to complete it.
  2. Make sure your homework is complete when you submit it.
  3. Homework is typically graded within four days after it was due.
  4. No homework will be accepted more than three weeks past the due date or after the final exam.
  5. If you post late work online, it is your responsibility to email me and ask that I grade it.

Lab printing policy

  1. School work only, except for a resume or financial aid application
  2. Final copy only, not drafts
  3. No printing from the Internet, including course materials

Petitions to Admissions & Records

  • Prerequisite Equivalency/Challenge Form Use this form if you feel that you already meet that prerequisites of a course. I strongly recommend that you look at the schedule pages for my Photoshop 1 or Photoshop 2 courses first to make sure that you understand all of the covered topics.

  • Petition for Course Repetition. Use this form if you try to register and the system tells you you can't because you have already taken the class.

  • Petition for a Waiver of College Regulations. This form covers such things as adding late, dropping late, petitioning for Pass/No Pass late, registering in a conflicting class, and requesting a refund.
