About Career Certificate Program
The Certificate Program offers five areas of emphasis for the career-oriented theatre major: Acting, Costuming, Makeup, Stagecraft, and Theatre Management. Each of the five Theatre Arts Certificates offer a variety of classes designed to provide the student with specific skills and training. Students must choose an area of emphasis and complete the assigned courses with satisfactory grades. In addition, all students enrolled in the certificate program will be assigned a faculty advisor who will meet with them regularly to monitor their progress.

Career certificates are intended to certify that students have successfully completed this program and are prepared to enter the careers associated with each certificate. They take one to two years to complete. These programs are approved by the California Community College Chancellor's Office.

Your Future
The programs offer the opportunity to transfer, in high standing, to a university or technical trade school. Graduates of SRJC Theatre Arts Department transfer to four-year universities, as well as professional schools in New York, Los Angeles, and abroad.

The student who successfully completes a certificate program will qualify for entry-level employment and apprenticeships for stage, film, and TV work. Many of our best graduates are working in professional and resident theatre companies throughout California and across the country.

Theatre Training at SRJC is Affordable
Enrollment fees are among the lowest in California and the Nation. Financial aid is available for qualified theatre students in the form of scholarships, student employment, and work-study. Contact SRJC's Financial Aid Office in Plover Hall for more information.
