Using Moodle for Face-to-Face Classes

In this workshop Nancy will report on lessons learned from 3 semesters of using Moodle for a class website interface used in conjunction with a face-to-face class. The presentation will include direct feedback from students on their experiences using Moodle. The presenter will engage the audience in conversation regarding ways in which Moodle can be used to enhance student success and support a philosophy of sustainable use of resources.

The problem as classroom incivility has become acute with the introduction of cell phones, computers, and other technology. Research findings, categories of classroom incivility, faculty surveys, and strategies for dealing with inappropriate student behaviors will be discussed.

For example, learning environments that are creative/inventive, collaborative, participatory, and multidisciplinary are preferred. Attend this workshop to find out what IT is doing to fight spam at SRJC, including a brief overview of how E-mail is processed before it gets to your mailbox, some statistics on the amount of spam that we receive vs. legitimate messages, a demonstration on how to configure the spam-blocking systems we offer, ways to identify phishing attacks and scams, and how to setup rules to organize your inbox.
