Greetings to all Faculty and Staff!

The Spring 2012 Professional Development Activity Institutional Day is Thursday, February 16, 2012. On PDA Day, please join your SRJC colleagues for the annual Brook Tauzer Faculty Lecture featuring Galen George of the Chemistry Department.

Spring always brings fresh energy and creativity.  I hope this spring we are all able to harness that energy to find new ways to improve student success and completion while maintaining access for our community members.  The completion of our Accrediting Commission on Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Midterm Report submission for March will provide another opportunity for us to reflect on our goals and accomplishments. I applaud you all as you envision our future and work together to make it a reality!

Thank you to all of the SRJC Faculty and Staff who truly are the best at providing excellence for the community we serve. We’ll look forward to seeing you on Thursday, February 16, 2012 for Professional Development Activity Day.

Mary Kay Rudolph
Vice President, Academic Affairs

What In The World Isn’t Chemistry?:  A Molecular Odyssey
Galen G. George, Chemistry Department

A parallel examination, from a molecular perspective, of two journeys – one epic, the other not so much.

The Brook Tauzer Faculty Lecture is the highlight of PDA Day each spring, and an honor for the faculty member selected to give it. The Tauzer Lecture is a long-time SRJC tradition (since 1987) named in honor of Brook Tauzer, who is an emeritus professor of history and former Vice President of Academic Affairs at SRJC. He worked at the college from 1955 through 1986.

The Tauzer Lecturer is an SRJC faculty member who has been selected for teaching excellence by a committee consisting of former Tauzer Lecturers.
