Why Study in Spain?
This program offers the unique opportunity to live and study in two of Spain's most fascinating cities. Granada, standing at the foot of the spectacular mountains of the Sierra Nevada, is a lively and hospitable city which holds a rich multicultural past. Heir to Moorish dynasties, Jewish philosophers, and the home of Spain's largest Roma (gypsy) community, Granada is an inspiring place for discovering magnificent architecture, Flamenco music, old-style bazaars and tea rooms. As Spain's third largest university center, Granada offers an intellectually vibrant atmosphere for students to learn and immerse in the splendor of Andalucian life.
The second part of the program takes place in Madrid, one of the finest capital cities in Europe. Located in the heart of Spain, Madrid simmers in intense cultural and artistic activity. World renowned museums, modern theater, ballet, opera, the traditional bullfights, as well as its lively night life and bustling cafés, bestow this city with enormous cultural vitality. Students will find in Madrid an unusually open atmosphere with a captivating mix of history, art and contemporary politics enabling them to gain first hand insights into Spain's rich history and modern culture. The opportunity to live, study and interact with people from two distinct regions of Spain will give students linguistic exposure to two regional varieties of Spanish, Castellano and Andaluz, making for an invigorating and far-reaching language learning experience.
