Why Study in Paris?

Santa Rosa Junior College is committed to preparing its students for participation as citizens at the local, national and global levels and study abroad programs can be a life changing opportunity for students to learn to understand a different culture, to examine themselves, their attitudes and their studies. The study abroad program is organized so that students can study abroad while making normal progress toward their degree objectives by earning fully transferable units in courses taught by community college faculty and guest lecturers.

Paris is synonymous with high quality education and thousands of students throughout history have flocked there to study literature and the arts. It is also a haven for intellectuals, and the list of Eiffle Towertransplanted intellectuals who have made Paris home is impressive, including Americans Ernest Hemingway, John dos Passos, e.e. cummings, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Stephen Vincent Benet and Gertrude Stein.

To millions of people the beauty of Paris is never-ending -- the Seine, the backdrop of roofs, domes, spires and towers, Sacre Coeur, I.M. Pei's starkly modern Pyramide du Louvre and incomparable views of some of the world's greatest art treasures.

Paris enjoys varied weather. Snow rarely falls, but winter tends to be cold and at times, rainy. Summer is hot, autumn pleasant and spring frequently divine with flowers and trees blooming by March or April.

What more can be said about this fabulous city? Much more! One can rave about Paris food, about her shops, about her wine, about her charm, about her architecture, about her nightlife, about her unique way of life. Paris is an experience worthy of everyone's discovery.
