These sites provide a broad range of demographic information on the local, regional, statewide and national levels, often through searchable databases.
Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)
ABAG, the bay area regional planning agency, provides data on estimated and projected population, employee counts by industrial sector, etc.
California Department of Finance
This sites provides population estimates and projections, using data from the U.S. Census 2000, for California counties on ethnicity, age and gender, as well as population of local cities.
California Employment Development Department
Based on the US Census 2000, this site provides data on the state and local workforce, industry, employers, programs, with links to job placement and referrals, labor market information, unemployment and disability insurance, employment and training, payroll taxes, etc. The site includes employment-related news releases.
Sonoma County Economic and Demographic Profile
This comprehensive data bank of economic and statistical information has recently appeared on the Economic Development Board website. It contains several hundred charts of a broad range of data on all of Sonoma County, with information drawn from federal, state, regional and local public and private resources.
This site provides data from the US Census 2000 (and other data) on regions and communities in California by population, ethnicity, age and other measures, as well as comparative data by region and nationwide.
The California section of this site contains a database of occupational projections, searchable for level of education required.
