American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) AACC's site devotes a page to “hot issues” affecting community colleges nationwide. The Trends and Statistics pages provide information on the evolution of community colleges and their students through enrollment numbers and demographics, staffing, accreditation, cost, and financial information. American Educational Research Association (AERA)AERA encourages scholarly inquiry related to education and promotes the dissemination and practical application of research results. It includes higher education as well as K–12. Association for Institutional Research (AIR)AIR is a professional association of institutional researchers, planners, and decision-makers from higher education institutions nationwide and from around the world. Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE)ASHE is a scholarly society dedicated to higher education as a field of study. It publishes a journal, The Review of Higher Education. California Association for Institutional Research (CAIR)CAIR's site contains links to dozens of Institutional Research sites at California community colleges and universities, as well as papers from past conferences. Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC)ERIC is a national information system dedicated to disseminating educational research reports, practitioner-oriented materials, and other documentary sources of information that can be used to develop more effective educational methods and programs. ERIC covers K–12 as well as higher education. ERIC operates 16 subject-specialized clearinghouses, each responsible for acquiring, selecting, indexing, and abstracting materials in its area of interest. The ERIC clearinghouses produce a comprehensive index to more than 750 educational journals, Current Index to Journals in Education. The ERIC database contains nearly one million citations to documents and journal articles. League for Innovation in the Community CollegeThis organization promotes innovative ideas for community colleges. National Council for Research and Planning (NCRP)NCRP focuses on institutional research and planning for community colleges. Its publications page includes reports and publications plus a link to the Journal of Applied Research in the Community College. Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE)PACE is an independent policy research center providing data and analysis for education policy debates. PACE provides analysis and assistance to California policymakers, education professionals, and the general public. PACE also conducts long-term evaluations, such as studies of charter schools and trends in school financing. Society for College and University Planning (SCUP)SCUP focuses on promoting, advancing, and applying effective planning in higher education. SCUP’s primary stated strategic objective is to identify and compile substantive knowledge about higher education planning and create an information base which planners can access easily.
