What do Puente Mentors do?

• Introduce students to careers and workplaces
• Share their strategies for overcoming obstacles
• Show by example that academic and career goals can be met
• Provide resources for student writing assignments about culture and community

Puentistas are matched with mentors who have successfully navigated the road to college. In addition to offering their insights and support, the Puente mentors provide students with an enriching variety of resources and opportunities. The mentors meet with students and share their academic, career, and personal experiences. They introduce the students to professional and community organizations and provide resources for the students' writing assignments.

Mentors are trained by the SRJC Puente co-coordinators and participate in Puente events throughout the school year. In February we honor our students and mentors with the annual Mentor Breakfast.
