PUENTE EVENTS

Throughout the year, Puente students and faculty get together and are sometimes joined by mentors and family to explore and enhance the Puente experience.

FALL EVENTS

Family Potluck: A chance for students and their families to meet away from the classroom. This event is a special chance for families to learn more about the program and to support their students.

Mentor Matching Dinner & Mentor Orientation: Mentors receive their orientation and training and students have their first chance to get to know program mentors.

Student Motivational Conference: Sponsored by the University of California, the Northern California Transfer Motivational Conference takes place at a Northern California University of California campus each fall. Puente programs from Northern California come for a day of information about transferring, financial aid, and to connect with other Puentistas from across the region.

Cultural/Social Event: At the end of every Fall semester, our program plans a fun cultural or social event to wrap up the Fall semester, such activities include a theatre event, museum, movie night, etc.

Posada (optional): Former Puente Counselor, Luz Navarrette, and Vice President of Student Services, Ricardo Navarrette, host a Christmas Posada for friends, neighbors, and Puentistas.

SPRING EVENTS

Mentor Breakfast: At the Mentor Breakfast, we honor our students and mentors for their contributions to the program and to one another.

Puente High School Conference: High school students from surrounding districts are invited to our campus to learn about SRJC programs and services, through workshops and student panels.

University Fieldtrip: Every Spring semester our program visits a local university so learn about their majors, programs and services.

Completion Ceremony: They made it! On the Annual Student Recognition Dinner, we honor our Puentistas for their success and perseverance in making it through two rigorous semesters of English and Counseling classes and fulfilling all the requirements of the program. We also honor the students who are transferring to a four-year university and those who are graduating with Bachelors, Masters, or Post Doctorate Degrees.
