Students enrolled in the Emergency Medical Care (EMC) Programs receive excellent training in the assessment and treatment of the sick and injured. EMC students are not only prepared academically, experienced faculty bring a wealth of practical information into the classroom that prepares students to begin a career in emergency medical services (EMS). Courses range from basic first aid and CPR, through Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic.
The SRJC's Paramedic Academy is nationally accredited. It is an intensive yearlong program that includes three components: classroom, clinical (in hospital), and field internship. Paramedic students can achieve an Associate degree in Paramedicine, by completing the academy, its prerequisites and general education requirements.
EMS personnel receive in-service training and certification renewal credits in the areas of emergency vehicle operations, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric life support, and more.
