HOUSING
ADOPT: NOVEMBER 14, 2000
The purpose of on-campus housing is to provide an environment that supports academic retention and success.
To qualify for on-campus housing, a resident must enroll in and complete 12 units each semester (nine of which must be graded units) with at least a 2.0 GPA. For summer residency, a student must enroll in and complete three graded units with at least a 2.0 GPA. Transfer students must have completed all previous college work with at least a 2.0 GPA. Failure to meet these academic standards will result in dismissal from on-campus housing.
The dormitory maintains a set of rules, regulations and an appeal process. These are available at the on-campus housing Manager's office upon request. Prospective residents will be given a copy of the rules which they will be asked to sign, indicating their understanding of the rules and their willingness to abide by them.
Application Process
Applications for the academic year will be available in April of each year, and should be submitted prior to June 1st. Spaces are assigned to in-district applicants first, with any additional spaces then assigned to applicants from other districts. Residents of the Sonoma County Junior College District area are divided into three priority groups, depending on their place of residence. Outlying areas of the District are given a higher housing priority. Proof of residency may be required upon acceptance to campus housing, and a change in residency may change your housing eligibility. "Priority Lists" are maintained in all categories year round. In the event that the priority list is exhausted and a room becomes available, the waiting list then opens up to applicants who have applied after the June 1st deadline.
Contract
The contract is between the Board of Trustees of Santa Rosa Junior College and the student with a guarantor. A signature of a guarantor is required on all contracts that are not paid in full prior to occupancy and on all contracts entered into by an applicant under the age of 18 years, in which case the guarantor shall be the parent or guardian of the minor applicant.
Contracts are issued for the entire school year, from mid-August through graduation day in May. No housing will provided during the winter and spring vacation periods, belongings can be stored in the rooms, but students will be required to vacate their rooms during these periods. The Kent Hall lobby area and business office will also be closed during official College breaks.
If the student terminates residency in the dormitory during the period of the contract or is dismissed, that portion of the prepaid rent, which applies to the final 30 days of the contract, will not be refunded.
Fee Structure
The Board of Trustees approves the rates that will be charged to students for living in the dormitories.
A grace period of five days will be allowed for making rental payments. On the sixth day after payment is due, a $10 late fee will be charged. Failure to pay an installment due, within ten days of the due date may result in dismissal from the dormitory.
Deposit
The resident submits a deposit separate from the rental fee. Prior to refund of the deposit, deductions may be made for loss, damage, unpaid rent, or clearing fees incurred by the resident. The deposit will be refunded prior to the end of the school year ONLY under one of the following conditions:
