ROOM ASSIGNMENT PROCESS

1. Santa Rosa Campus An inventory of scheduled classrooms shall be maintained by Administrative Services. Every attempt will be made to sustain scheduling stability in classrooms that have specialized architectural or activity features, equipment, media (gyms, labs, studios, etc.) while striving to maximize efficient use of facilities. Departments and other instructional programs will have "Right of First Assignment Classrooms" (RFAC) for the scheduling of certain designated rooms. An RFAC list will be maintained by the Scheduling Office. Revisions to the list can be initiated by supervising administrators, department chairs or the Scheduling Technician, with decisions for change being made as a collaborative effort through written request to the Scheduling Office.

   Departments may schedule their RFACs while preparing Proof #1 of each semester's schedule. Any RFACs not scheduled on the first proof will be released for use by other departments prior to the second proof. Changes after Proof #2 cannot be guaranteed, but reasonable effort will be made to find pedagogically appropriate rooms for sections not appearing on Proof #2. After Proof #2, at which time the schedule is "permatized", unscheduled classrooms are released to Community Education for scheduling.

2. All Other Sites

   The scheduling of classrooms at the Petaluma Campus, Public Safety Training Center and other locations throughout the district are subject to the processes internally developed at each site.

   Facilities Use, Planning, And Space Modification

   Departments and instructional programs shall have the opportunity to define and pursue any new or distinctive classroom space that is pedagogically appropriate for their subject matter through the established District planning process.
