The Library subscribes to
a variety of databases for finding articles on topics of interest.
These databases have authoritative periodical articles found in magazines,
newspapers, government documents, etc. providing a broad range of views on
any subject area. The vast majority of the articles are full text and can be
printed or e-mailed to yourself.
Access databases from: SRJC Articles & Databases http://www.santarosa.edu/library/ftdb. Off campus access requires a user name and PIN number. Apply for a PIN.
The databases have
different interfaces; they look different but are searched in a similar
manner. Enter your topic (search terms) in the search box. There are also
HELP screens for each database.

Finding Articles Not Available in Library Subscription Databases Print Periodical Indexes are used to locate magazine, journal and newspaper articles. These indexes are useful for locating information on a topic not currently covered in the news or to get a sense of how the event was published at the time. They are the only access tool for finding periodical articles published before the mid 1980s. Most print periodical indexes are hardbound annually in book form and must be searched using a separate volume for each year. These sources only list citations of articles and do not contain the full text of the article. The citation gives you all of the information you need to locate the actual article from the actual magazine. Most of the library's older periodicals are stored on microfilm and microfiche. If you are unable to locate an article in our collection, you can request an InterLibrary Loan (ILL) form at the Reference Desk in the library (sorry there is no online form). ILL will locate a copy of the article and notify you when it is available at the Circulation desk for pick up. It can take up to 2 weeks or more for delivery of materials.
