The
CalWORKs program provides assistance to students on TANF (Temporary Assistance
to Needy Families) while attending Santa Rosa Junior College. Services include counseling,
a paid work experience program, child care for eligible students, educational diagnostic
assessment to determine learning disabilities, and support services to assist working
students gain self-sufficiency. In addition the program can serve former TANF recipients
with the costs of education at SRJC for up to two years after leaving welfare. SonomaWORKs
(Work Opportunities & Responsibility to Kids) was developed in response to welfare
reform, and is intended to serve many of the same students served by the former GAIN
program. Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) is a program
that helps full-time, low income, educationally disadvantaged students achieve their
academic goals at Santa Rosa Junior College. The program is designed to make the
college experience accessible and rewarding to those facing language, social, and
economic challenges. The program strives to be responsive to the needs of EOPS students
and to create an environment that is supportive of cultural diversity throughout
the District. Administers federal and state funds to help students with costs of fees, books, supplies, rent, food, and other expenses. Distributes and processes the free Application for Federal Student Aid. The staff is available by both appointment and drop-in to assist students and parents. A comprehensive Financial Aid Handbook describes programs and the process in greater detail and is available from the Financial Aid Office.

SRJC Scholarship Programs Office is designed to help students locate and apply for
scholarships on campus, throughout the community, statewide, and across the nation.
Each year, over 5,000 students receive scholarships from SRJC for a total exceeding
four million dollars. These awards include the Doyle Scholarship, SRJC Foundation
Scholarships, and scholarships offered by community and business organizations. Let
the Scholarship Office help you find these additional sources for funding for your
college expenses. Scholarships may be awarded based on scholastic achievement, financial
need, special interest and activities, and academic field of study. Other SRJC programs may have scholarships and/or financial benefits. Consider these resources: Reentry, EOPS, MESA, Student Affairs. Helps the veteran population with a variety of needs from
housing and jobs to counseling. The Veterans Affairs Office will also act as an advocate
for veterans in their dealings with the Veterans Administration in relation to VA
benefits. |
