You can earn an Associate Degree in Arts or Sciences at SRJC. Many students earn an Associate Degree in addition to reaching another goal such as an occupational certificate or transferring to a university or college.

The requirements for an Associate Degree include:

  1. Completion of a GE pattern.
  2. Completion of the requirements for an approved major.
  3. Completion of 60 or more units numbered 1-299.

General Education Requirement

Students have 3 options in meeting this requirement:

  • Option A (Completion of the Associate Degree General Education course requirements and the math competency requirement, 23 units)
  • Option B (Completion of the CSU General Education course requirements, 39 units)
  • Option C (Completion of the IGETC General Education Transfer Curriculum, 34-40 units)

Major Requirement

Completion of an approved major course of study of at least 18 college units from the SRJC list of approved majors. A course may be used to satisfy both a General Education requirement and a major requirement. A complete list of approved majors is available at http://www.santarosa.edu/majors/. The majors requirements for an Associate Degree may differ from major requirements to prepare to transfer to a 4 year school.

Unit Requirement

A minimum of 60 units in courses numbered 1-299. For example, PSYCH 1A and MATH 150A are degree-applicable courses. The 60 units can include certificate, major, general education, or elective courses.
