PROGRAM

The Horticulture Therapy Practices Certificate program is designed to provide a series of courses through which students can gain the background, skills and experience that will allow them to incorporate horticultural therapy into an existing job environment or equip them for further horticultural therapy coursework. The program will provide information concerning treatment alternatives to a wide range of therapy professionals, educators, students enrolled in SRJC horticulture and/or Human Services certificate programs, and interested individuals. Horticultural Therapy Practices certificate focuses primarily on techniques, methods and structures used in horticultural therapy with a diversity of populations in a variety of settings.

The Horticultural Therapy Practices Certificate is one rung in a career ladder. Students interested in pursuing further coursework may wish to review information regarding first level registration as a horticultural therapist assistant or obtain information about university level horticultural therapy programs, AHTA accredited certificate programs, and internship opportunites through the American Horticultural Therapy Association(AHTA)http://www.ahta.org/.

If you began working on this certificate before the effective semester, you may not be affected by any changes to the program. Consult with the program advisor to determine your eligibility to complete the certificate under previous requirements.
