Coverage: JSTOR (short for Journal Storage) is a journal archive that holds the complete digitized collections of scholarly journals within several large collections. The collections cover a wide variety of topics in the arts, sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. All articles are included full text. Users can search the entire set at once or search subsets of journals by broad subject disciplines.

 

JSTOR does not include current journal issues. Because of JSTOR's archival mission, there is a gap, the so-called "moving wall" between the most recently published journal issue and the back issues available in JSTOR. Publishers determine the moving wall length in their license agreements with JSTOR. Moving walls may range from zero to ten years. In calculating the moving wall, the current, incomplete year is not counted.

Coverage: Science is the world's leading outlet for scientific news, commentary, and reports on cutting-edge research. Its articles consistently rank among the world's most cited research. Science online also offers forward and backward citation links, content awareness alerts, science career information and tools (a job search feature a Science Careers page on Facebook, etc.), information on grants and funding, and science podcasts and webinars.

Coverage: This database provides integrated access to over 4,000 historical (primary) documents, articles from more than 30 reference titles, and over 110 full-text journal covering themes, events, individuals and periods in U.S. history from pre-Colonial times to the present. The material also includes citations from over 180 additional history journals from the Institute for Scientific Information's Arts and Humanities Citation Index, as well as the entire American Journey Online series.

Coverage: A collection of electronic books, or "eBooks", which you can read online. The books are full text, and you can search the text for words or phrases related to your topic. The collection includes over 19,000 books in subject areas including Psychology, Sociology, Literature, Jobs & Careers, Business & Economics, Computer Science, Education, History, Latin American Studies, Political Science, Health & Wellness, and more.

 

INSTRUCTIONS: There are two ways to use the NetLibrary collection:

 

1) NetLibrary e-books are listed in the Library's online catalog, along with the Library's printed books. When you search the catalog, it's easy to tell which books listed there are e-books since the words "electronic resource" appear after each e-book's title. In addition, the location indicated for each e-book will include the word "E-Book" and the book's call number will end with the letters "eb." Select the e-book title which you would like to read, then click the number to the left of the title. Scroll down the next page until you see the words "Click for E-Book or Link" and click the words which begin "Bibliographic record display..." to be connected to the e-book you have selected.

 

2) You can also search for and read NetLibrary e-books by going directly to the NetLibrary Web site, without using the Library's catalog. You may browse any book for 2 hours at a time (unless another user is already using it). If you still need the book, you can renew it for additional 2 hour periods.

Off-campus access to NetLibrary:

 

To use NetLibrary from off campus, you must first set up an account while you are on campus. Simply go to the NetLibrary Web site , and click the "Create a free account" link in the top right corner of the screen. Then follow the instructions on screen. (If you have problems, read the online help page "Create an Account.") You can then use your user name and password to log in from any location.
