The Semester Abroad in London has been offered continuously since then. During that time, approximately 350 students and 15 faculty have participated.
In 1989, SRJC added the semester in Paris program, again in cooperation with AIFS. The program is housed at the Foyer International d'Accueil de Paris, which provides classrooms, housing, and food service. The semester in Paris program has been held six times, serving six faculty and 120 students.
The semester in Florence program started in 1991. It is offered in alternating semester with the semester in Paris program. The first semester in Florence was canceled because of the Gulf War. Since 1993, SRJC has offered the program three semesters; three faculty and over 100 students have participated.
The International Education Program added another significant option for students in 1996 when the Work in Britain program was created and offered through the college's Work Experience department. Students in this program enroll in Work Experience classes for up to eight units. They live and work in London with assistance from the British Universities North American Club and the Council on International Educational Exchange. Students participating in this program fulfill all the requirements for the Work Experience program but have the advantage fo working in a foreign setting.
The Work in Britain program has served over 100 students who come from several community colleges and four-year schools in Northern California.
The number of foreign students attending SRJC has remained stable over the past years. Enrollment varies according to the economics and politics in countries most likely to send students to the U.S. Students attend SRJC from countries such as China, Japan, Russia, France, Sweden, South Korea, Germany, Kenya, and Hungary.
