ABOUT CONSUMER AND FAMILY STUDIES
The CFS Department offers a variety of courses
in several different areas of study: Consumer Issues, Dietetic Technology, Fashion Studies, Floristry, Foods and Nutrition,
Interior Design, Foster and Kinship Care, and Independent Living Skills.
Study in these areas can be both personally and professionally
valuable. Comprehensive vocational
certificate programs are offered for Dietetic Technology,
Fashion Studies, Floristry, and Interior Design. Community professionals in each discipline
serve on Advisory Committees to keep course offerings applicable to
current industry standards and to help ensure that students completing
a certificate are ready for job placement.
Faculty
and staff in Consumer and Family Studies come from a variety of
academic and professional backgrounds. We share an innovative approach
to our work and offer a collaboration of work experience, academic expertise,
and enjoyment of learning to students of all ages and backgrounds.
