- Fill out a “Prerequisite Challenge Form.” You can find this form in the back of the SRJC Schedule of Classes, or download the Prerequisite Challenge Form pdf. (You will need Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat to read the pdf. Get Adobe Reader.) No signatures are necessary at this point in the process.
- It is recommended that you check the box in the right column that says, “I have not completed the prerequisite of this course and want to challenge it based on the following.” Then check the “Knowledge or ability to succeed” box. Make sure to respond to the prompt telling you to explain the basis of your challenge. Usually a sentence or two will suffice.
-
Submit the form to the Admissions and Records Office. You can do this in person or you can fax the form to (707) 527-4798. If you fax the form, it is recommended that you call them at (707) 527-4685 to confirm receipt.
- Within a few hours, you will be able to enroll in the class. The form goes to the department chair who has the option to deny the challenge, but usually won't do so if the challenge seems reasonable.
