If you ever dreamed about a job in an exciting field that keeps you in the great outdoors, Santa Rosa Junior College's Environmental Conservation Program offers outstanding job training and educational opportunities that can meet your goals.

When you enroll at SRJC, you will be on your way to acquiring the skills and education for a career that turns your beliefs and passions into action in support of environmental conservation.

SRJC offers  an excellent two-year associate in science degree, career certificates, and an option to transfer to a four-year university to earn a bachelor's degree or higher in the expanding growth industry of environmental conservation.

Outdoor Hands-on Instruction
SRJC's Environmental Conservation Program will introduce you to experts in a wide range of disciplines, including sustainable agriculture, parks and recreation, watershed management, rangeland management, field biology, ecology, sustainable forestry, land surveying, fish and wildlife biology, and other associated areas of study.

Instruction in Environmental Conservation includes hands-on learning options at SRJC's 365-acre Shone Farm close to Forestville near the Russian River.  The 120-acre forest allows exploration, demonstration, and application of lecture topics in a real-world setting.

In addition to guest lecturers, students participate in field trips, demonstrations, presentations, and workshops led by industry professionals who are dedicated to providing a rich learning experience.


Earn a Certificate or Degree

The Environmental Conservation Majors include 18 units of core requirements.  Students select one of three emphases and complete an additional 17 units in:

Natural Resources Management

Watershed Management

Parks and Recreation Management

 

By completing one of the these emphases, the student will receive a Career Certificate.  Individuals also have the option of completing short (15 units) certificates in Parks and Recreation Management, Natural Resources Management, and Watershed Management.  Students may earn an associate in science degree by completing additional general education courses.
