Park and Recreation Management Degree

Population growth and the increased interest in recreation in California has created a demand for skilled individuals trained in Parks and Recreation Management.  The Parks and Recreation emphasis is designed to equip students with skills in designing, planning, and managing parks in order to provide varied recreational opportunities.

Major in Parks and Recreation Management prepares students for technician-level positions in visitor information services, forest recreation, park maintenance, resource protection, and public safety in local, state, and federal parks and forests.  The work of a Parks and Recreation technician supports and complements the role of Park Managers.

Program content is designed in collaboration with experts in the field of Parks and Recreation Management to ensure  that  the needs of employers are met.  While employment opportunities has been mainly in governmental positions, jobs in the private consulting industry continue to increase.  Working conditions are ideal for those who like to help others enjoy the outdoors!
