INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Occupational Work Experience Internship is designed for the student who has decided a major, has taken classes in his major, and is ready for on-the-job experience.

ARE YOU READY FOR AN INTERNSHIP?

Have you declared a major and completed one semester of college coursework with a 2.5 or better GPA?
Have you completed any coursework in your major or do you have any work history related to your major?
Are you currently enrolled in courses related to your major?
Do you have a career goal?
Are you a highly motivated, goal-oriented, self-directed person?
If hired. can you provide proof of your eligibility to work in the US?
Do you have 4 to 20 hours per week to devote to an intern position?

If you answered YES to the above questions and want specific information about the Intern Courses at SRJC, please contact the Work Experience Department office. Please call 707-527-4329 to schedule an appointment to meet with the Intern Coordinator, Bev Henningsen. Registration is restricted, so you will need a section number and add code to enroll.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Paralegal Handbook
View Intern Orientation DVD located in Intern Handbook or watch online Intern Online Orientation Video
Develop 4 learning objectives identifying new learning on the job

Meet with your assigned Intern Instructor and supervisor

Complete an Intern Project or attend/complete 4 hours of seminars/activities

Write a Student Report (including resume)

Keep track of total hours worked for reporting to instructor near end of semester

HOW TO ENROLL

Call and make an appointment with the Intern Coordinator to determine your elgibility to participate in the Internship Program and to talk about available and upcoming internships

EMPLOYERS SEEKING INTERNS

Students may develop their own internship and enroll to earn units, or utilize the Intern Program for placement. Through an extensive network of employers ranging from major corporations to government, private sector, and nonprofit agencies, the Intern Program matches students with part-time jobs, both paid and nonpaid, in their chosen field.

Students are prescreened and referred to employers for interviews. Selected students are required to enroll in one to four units of Work Experience. An instructor is assigned to visit the student on the job, review the student's goals and objectives, and serve as a resource throughout the semester.

To list your intern position, you will need to follow ths two-step process:

1. Register as an employer at the SRJC Student Employment Job Board: Student Employment Job Board

Please note, when listing your business also include INTERN EMPLOYER (e.g. ABC Company - Intern Employer).

2. Next, you will be approved as an employer to list positions and will be able to submit internship positions. Please remember to select Internship. Please also note that College Central, our job board partner, sends an automated email to you once you have registered; please check your SPAM folder for these emails.
