SRJC Agriculture/Natural Resources Department

AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES

The department is the largest community college agriculture and natural resources program in California with nearly 4,000 students enrolled annually. Many department courses prepare you for career advancement, entry into professional level employment, or transfer to a four-year university. Agriculture supports 1.1 million jobs, nearly eight percent of all jobs in California, with many more in the wine industry, the management of natural resources, parklands, and ranches.

SRJC’s 365-acre Shone Farm, located near Forestville, is a learning laboratory for the department, offering you a bio-diverse environment encompassing vineyards, pasture, a commercial scale vegetable and fruit garden, animal science unit, indoor and outdoor arenas, premium winery, and riparian woodlands in the Russian River watershed, also known as the Russian River Valley AVA (American Viticulture Area). No matter what your agricultural interest, Shone Farm will give you hands-on learning in farm business operations.

For detailed information, see the Agriculture and Natural Resources Web site.
