Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies

Programs
Welcome

Mission

The Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies Department is dedicated to the teaching of Humanities, Religious Studies, and other Interdisciplinary Studies. The department is committed to meeting the educational needs of our students by offering courses that reflect the diverse ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds of our students by providing general education and elective courses for transfer and occupational students, and by serving the educational needs of the larger community.

We envision the role of the new Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies Department at SRJC will be to reinvigorate the study of Humanities, to creatively promote interdisciplinary and integrative teaching, to respond to new challenges and redefinitions of the Humanities that acknowledge a multicultural and global environment, and to assure that Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies remain a vital part of the educational program and general education opportunities at Santa Rosa Junior College.

All of our courses (with the exception of HUMAN 106) are transferable both to the University of California system and the California State University system. Students may also earn an associate in arts degree in Humanities (see Majors) or Humanities and Fine Arts (see Majors).

Please send questions or suggestions about Humanities to Jill Kelly-Moore at jkelly-moore@santarosa.edu

Please send questions or suggestions about Interdisiplinary Studies to Judith Thorn at jjthorn@sbcglobal.net
