* Applications will be accepted for this adjunct faculty pool for a period of one year from the filing priority deadline date. If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications received by the priority deadline date. The Health Sciences Department of Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly to our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed (as specified in Education Code Section 87482.5)
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Our facilities in the Race Building include classrooms with state-of-the-art computer and presentation equipment, a computer laboratory and Learning Resource Center, and a modern skill development laboratory. Clinical experiences take place in a variety of facilities and agencies throughout the county.
ADJUNCT POOL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking instructors for inclusion in a pool who have the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas:
Assignments could involve full or partial assignment at any of the District?s sites or off-campus locations, and could involve any combination of day or evening classes, with office hours being mandatory. Adjunct faculty are responsible for maintaining currency in their field(s) of expertise. All faculty are encouraged to participate in updating existing courses (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non-credit, or on-line courses); assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes; participating in departmental activities and other college service such as committee work; and participating in community outreach on behalf of the college.
** While we are accepting applications for all disciplines within this department as listed above, there are immediate needs anticipated in this area.
*** Some clinical assignments for this area are located at Napa State Hospital in Napa, California.
Required for Associate Degree Nursing Program: Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in direct patient care in medical/surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics, gerontological, or psychiatric nursing within the last five years; OR (for clinical assignments only), a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in direct patient care in medical/surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics, gerontological, or psychiatric nursing within the last five years; OR (also for clinical assignments only), an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in direct patient care in medical/surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics, gerontological, or psychiatric nursing within the last five years; OR the equivalent. All candidates must hold active licensure as a registered nurse in California. Work experience may include teaching in a professional nursing program. In addition to the requirements listed above, all candidates must be approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing prior to appointment to this pool.
Preferred: Previous experience teaching in a professional nursing program.
Required for Dental Programs: Candidates must meet minimum qualifications under sections A OR B AND C; as follows (minimum education and experience requirements are based on which area(s) you are interested in being considered for).
A) An Associate's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Association* AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a registered dental assistant, dental hygienist or dentist (as appropriate); OR a Bachelor's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Association* AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a registered dental assistant, dental hygienist or dentist (as appropriate); OR graduation from a University School of Dentistry accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Association* AND three years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a dentist; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health & Physical Care Services and Related Technologies; OR
B) The equivalent. If you do not possess the minimum qualifications, exactly as listed above, you must file for equivalency. If claiming equivalency, applicants are responsible for documenting all course work, degree programs and related professional experience at the time of application; AND
C) Current licensure in California as a registered dental assistant, dental hygienist or a dentist (as appropriate) AND clinical competency in all dental hygiene procedures (for Dental Hygiene only) OR an emphasis on dental practice management (for Dental Assisting or Dental Office only).
Required for Health Choices, Medical Terminology Disease & Process, and Community Health Worker: Master's Degree in Health Science, Health Education, Biology, Nursing, Physical Education, Dietetics, or Nutrition; OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's Degree in Public Health or any biological science; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies.
Preferred for Community Health Worker:
Bilingual (English/any other language) and bicultural.
Required for Clinical Medical Assisting: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; OR Bachelor's degree AND a valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California AND one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience in the practice of professional nursing AND the equivalent of one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in an acute hospital within the past three years. Work experience may include teaching in an approved professional nursing program; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies.
Required for Medical Office Practices, Phlebotomy, Medical Insurance Billing and/or Coding, and Medical Transcription: Bachelor's degree and two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR an Associate's degree and six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Office Services and Related Technologies.
Required for Nurse Assistant Program: Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies; AND one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long-term facility; AND one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in Nursing; OR two years of full-time experience as a licensed nurse, in which one year must have been in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility.
Required for Home Health Aide Program: Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies; AND a minimum of two years full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a Registered Nurse, with one year in the provision of home health care.
Required for Pharmacy Technician Program: Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in the discipline; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies.
Required for Psychiatric Technician: Required (Candidates must qualify in each of the following areas):
A) Completion of or be currently attending a course in teaching and curriculum; AND
B) Current California active license as a Psychiatric Technician or Registered Nurse; AND
C) A Bachelor's degree OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies*; AND a minimum of two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a psychiatric technician or registered nurse within the last five years, one of which shall have been in the primary area of assignment (Medical-Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing or Developmental Disabilities); OR
D) An Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) teaching experience in a state accredited registered nurse, vocational nurse or psychiatric technician school within the last five years, one of which shall have been in the primary areas of assignment (Medical-Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing or Developmental Disabilities).
In addition to the requirements listed above, all candidates must be approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians prior to appointment to this pool.
Required for Radiologic Technology: Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in Health & Physical Care Services and Related Technologies.
Additional Requirements: A) Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; AND
B) Current license as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of California Bureau of Radiologic Health; AND
C) Current Fluoroscopy permit; AND
D) Minimum of six years of documented full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a Radiologic Technologist; AND
E) Minimum of two years of documented full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a clinical instructor in the hospital setting.
Required for Vocational Nursing: Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications under all categories as described below (required by Santa Rosa Junior College, the Board of Vocational Nursing Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) and the State Chancellor's Office which governs the minimum qualifications for Community Colleges).
A) Current active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN); AND
B) Completion of (or currently attending) an approved teaching course from an accredited college approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT). (A CD self-paced course is available from the VN Program which meets this BVNPT requirement and can be loaned to the candidate from completion prior to hire); AND
C) Approval from the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) prior to appointment to this adjunct pool; AND
D) A minimum of two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) within the last five years; AND
E) Either:

The office is located in the Button Building on the college campus and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
