STATUS OF ASSIGNMENT
Part time work, hours vary based on class schedule of students requiring interpreting.
Under direction, provides interpreting services to deaf and hard of hearing students and staff.
Completion of an accredited interpreter training program, or equivalent.
Work experience as a sign language interpreter. Work experience in a post-secondary educational setting preferred.
Preferred: Certification by Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf preferred.
- experience with interpreting in a postsecondary setting
- ability to work effectively with deaf and hard of hearing students
- ability to interpret college level material
ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues and supervisors both orally and in writing, and maintain cooperative working relationships
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Accurately interpret spoken language to sign language and interpret sign to spoken language for lecture classes, physical education classes, labs, meetings and various assignments as scheduled.
- Work effectively in teams with other sign language interpreters.
- Adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$20-$45 per hour, depending upon certification and experience.

The office is located in the Button Building on the college campus and is
open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

considered only if the initial priority screening is unsuccessful.
Following the priority filing deadline, applications which are complete for screening will be forwarded to a screening committee for review. Approximately 15 to 20 days later, we will notify you whether or not you have been chosen for interview. Those
applicants most suitably qualified for the position will be invited
to appear for oral interviews before a Screening Committee. The
Screening Committee may include representatives from the Faculty, the
Administration, the Classified Staff, the Student Body, and the Board

related to the first interview, candidates traveling from out
of the area for administrative or full-time faculty positions who are selected as finalists will be offered a travel
stipend for their administrative interview(s).

OF EMPLOYMENT (Prior to beginning employment):

- Must take a TB test (once hired and every four years thereafter).
