Awards & Scholarships

Each year the Alumni and Friends Association presents several awards. The Floyd P. Bailey Award, and the Randolph Newman Scholarship Award and the Roy G. Mikalson Scholarship AWard are presented during Day Under the Oaks, the annual open house of Santa Rosa Junior College (first Sunday in May). The Outstanding Faculty Recognition Award is presented in April at a Faculty Recognition Celebration.

Floyd P. Bailey Award, established 1971

The Floyd P. Bailey Award, named for the first president of SRJC, is presented each year during the college's annual Day Under the Oaks. The recipient is a person who has made a significant contribution to the betterment of Santa Rosa Junior College. The first recipient of this award was the college's second president, the late Dr. Randolph Newman.


Randolph Newman Award, established 1989

The Randolph Newman Award, named for the second president of SRJC, is awarded to students demonstrating outstanding leadership. An award of $1,000 is presented to a transferring student. The purpose of this award is to encourage and reward scholastic achievement and active leadership among SRJC students.

Criteria:

-Student involvement on campus or within the community
-3.0 GPA
-Transferring student


Roy G. Mikalson, Established 2000

The Roy G. Mikalson Award, named for the third president of SRJC, is awarded to transferring students demonstrating outstanding leadership, with a preference for students preparing for the teaching profession. An award of $1,000 is presented each year.

Criteria:

-Student involvement on campus or within the community
-3.0 GPA
-Transferring student
-Emphasis in teaching


Outstanding Faculty Recognition Award, established 1996

The SRJC Alumni & Friends Association honors an outstanding SRJC faculty member each spring during the Faculty Recognition Awards Celebration in April. Having a one-time student scholarship awarded in his or her name honors the faculty member. The faculty member is selected for the award based on the following factors: excellence in teaching, sensitivity to student needs, development of innovative teaching materials and techniques, and service to the campus and wider community.

Goals for the Association

Promote appropriate programs through active participation in College functions and Association activities and events. Assist the College in maintaining its excellent name, reputation and recognition as an exemplary institution of higher learning. Comments or suggestions to:

Membership & Benefits

Anyone who has attended Santa Rosa Junior College or anyone who has an interest in SRJC may become a member of the Association.

Annual Member Benefits include:

The Alumni & Friends Association will provide Alumni information during Day Under the Oaks on Sunday, May 6, 2007. Day Under the Oaks is the college's annual open house to the community and is held on the Santa Rosa campus. See what's happening with the Alumni Association!

Alumni Board of Directors

The SRJC Alumni & Friends Association Board of Directors establishes Association policy and oversees the activities, programs and services provided by the Alumni & Friends Association. Directors serve three-year terms.

The Board recommends Alumni Relations policy, reviews alumni programs, makes awards and provides feedback and suggestions to the College via the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
