HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE CAREER FAIR
- Attend one of the free resume and career fair preparation seminars offered by the Career & Employment Center.
- Check the Career Center web site for a list of attending organizations (updated weekly).
- Target organizations in your field and begin research about them.
- Develop a list of your skills and accomplishments.
- Practice discussing your skills with friends.
- Develop a one-minute introduction. Of course this varies for everyone, but should include your year in school, major, grad date, career interests and goals.
- Not yet decided on a major? From the list of attending organizations, decide which employers/industries you would like to know about. Research them. Make a list of the questions you would like to ask the employers concerning their industry, like what skills and education you would need, or what work experience you could obtain that would be helpful in understanding that industry. Practice asking those questions with someone.
- Remember that the SRJC Occupational Programs will be at the
career fair to talk to you about majors you want to know about.
Decide early which programs you want to explore and make a list of
questions to ask those representatives.
