NORCAL CHAMPIONS 2008

NorCal Champions

Santa Rosa Junior College Women's Water Polo had back-to-back history-making seasons in 2008 and 2007 claiming the Northern California Championship Title last year, and having two consecutive final four appearances at the California Community College State Championship Tournament, culminating in a two year overall record of 47-15. This year's team is young and full of talent. The 2009 Cubs return seasoned-sophomores Stephanie Steil, Krista Loper, Elyse Cogburn, Sophie Waldron, and Maile Osborne. SRJC also looks to new leadership in the pool with freshmen goalie Ariel Lockshaw, center Cailtin Risden, and first year sophomores Christina Bergis , Karly Brown and Brittney Boyd (all three of whom were All-American swimmers for SRJC in 2009). SRJC has advanced to the NorCal Playoff Tournament seven times out of the last nine years. We have produced more than 30 all conference players, 20 All Northern California players, two conference MVP's, 15 All Americans, and over 30 All-Academic student athletes. This team is comprised of athletes who understand the meaning of commitment and effort. Coaches McCormick and Hennan recruit athletes who not only demonstrate a high level of team work, focus, and discipline in the pool and in the classroom, but who also like to have fun with their team and enjoy competition.
