The SRJC Women's Swim and Dive Team enter the 2013 season with high expectations after winning four California Community College State Titles in the last ten years. The Cubs 2013 squad is led by returning All Americans Meghan O'Rourke (Montgomery HS), Codie Cox (Maria Carrillo HS), and Kayla Strand (Maxwell HS); as well as by team captain, Alexandria Holland who was named the CCCAA Female Swimmer of the Year in 2012 after going undefeated at both State and Conference Championships. Key
incoming freshmen include Karissa Holland (Maria Carrillo HS), Allison Straus (Cardinal Newmand HS), Erin Sullivan (Montgomery HS); and divers Ariana Bates (Montgomery HS) and Casey Murdoch (Santa Rosa HS). In the past ten seasons, the Bear Cub women
have broken 32 school records, produced 25 state champions, 14 national champions, and set four new CA Community College state records. Head Coach Jill McCormick has also been named California Community College Coach of the Year in 2012, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2004. Recently, between our men’s and women’s teams, we have had over 50 swimmers and divers transfer on scholarship to the four-year level, 25 of which have been to Division I schools. The
SRJC Swim and Dive Team has been in existence over
30 years including numerous state champions and team titles. We compete
for the California Community Colleges Athletic Association. We belong to the Big Eight
Conference, arguably the strong
est conference in the state, giving us a great slate of dual meets, rivalries,
and a
very fast Conference Championship Meet. We have a strong women's program that consistently attracts swimmers and divers
at the national level as well as athletes willing to improve to that level.
During our recent seasons we have won three conference titles, including many All American and All Academic student- athletes. Coach McCormick
recruits athletes who not only demonstrate a high level of teamwork,
focus, and discipline in the pool and in the classroom, but who also
like to have fun with their team and enjoy competition.
