CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPIONS
2009 CA COMMUNITY COLLEGE STATE CHAMPS
2009 BIG 8 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
The SRJC Women's Swim and Dive Team enter the 2010 season with high expectations after their back-to-back State Championship and Big 8 Conference titles in 2009 and 2008. The Cubs large 2010 squad is led by returning All Americans Christina Bergs, Brittney Boyd, Karly Brown, and Katelyn Hackett, all of whom were major contributors to SRJC's history making 2009 season. Key incoming freshman include Lauren Bugglin from Moraga, Jillian Clark from Ukiah, and Madison Gomes from Crockett. In 2009 SRJC claimed their fourth California State Swimming Title in six years, making it their sixth state title overall. SRJC was also ranked No. 3 in the state in 2007, and No. 5 in 2006 as well. In the past six seasons, the Bear Cub women
have broken 29 school records, produced 21 state champions, 13 national champions, and set four new CA Community College state records during those years. Head Coach Jill McCormick was also named California Community College Coach of the Year in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2004. Recently, between our men’s and women’s swim teams, we have had over 25 swimmers and divers transfer on scholarship to the four-year level, 15 of which have been to Division I schools. The
SRJC Swim and Dive Team has been in existence over
30 years including numerous state champions and team titles. We compete
in the California Community Colleges League. We belong to the Big Eight
Conference, arguably one of the strongest conferences in the state, giving us a great slate of dual meets, rivalries,
very fast Conference Championship Meet. We have a strong women's program that consistently attracts swimmers and divers
at the national level as well as athletes willing to improve to that level.
During our recent seasons we have won three conference titles, including many All American and All Academic student- athletes. Coach McCormick
recruits athletes who not only demonstrate a high level of teamwork,
focus, and discipline in the pool and in the classroom, but who also
like to have fun with their team and enjoy competition.
