2009 Highlights

State ChampsSRJC Women's Swim & Dive Team were the 2009 State Champions for the fourth time in the past six years, in what most community college coaches would say was the fastest state meet in the history of the sport. This was the sixth State Title for Santa Rosa, making them the most decorated sports team at Santa Rosa Junior College. The 2009 team was also crowned the Big 8 Conference Champions for the second year in the row. Led by Captains Heather Cramer, Allie King, and Tiana Singley, the Cubs boasted the deepest team in the state with the help of an amazingly strong sophomore class of athletes. The team managed to qualify a record number of athletes, 18 the maximum allowable, to the state finals as well as win four of the five relays at the State Championships in Long Beach. Specifcally the Cubs set two new state records in both the medley relays and the 400 medley relay team of Allison Stuhr, Kate Mounday, Heather Cramer, and Allison King were honored with the "Oustanding Performance of the Meet" Award for their devistatingly fast swims. Freshman Kate Mounday also set a new state record in the trials of the 50 butterfly. As a team the 2009 Cubs set 13 new school records, 4 new Big 8 Conference records, and 3 new state recordsl. Head Coach Jill McCormick was named Coach of the Year for both the Big 8 Conference and the State of California. Congratulations to the 2009 team for a historical season.
