CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPIONS

2009 CA COMMUNITY COLLEGE STATE CHAMPS
2009 BIG 8 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
The SRJC Women's Swim and Dive Team entered the the 2009 season with one of their largest teams in school history and with the hopes of defending both their Conference and State Titles from 2008. The Cubs, led by sophomore swimmers Heather Cramer, Allie King, and divers Michelle Masciorini and Danielle McHugh, returned 12 All American's this season. They also have added to their depth with strong local freshmen standouts Allie Stuhr and Kate Mounday. Last season SRJC claimed their third California State Swimming Title in four years, making it their fifth state title overall. SRJC ranked No. 3 in the state in 2007, and No. 5 in 2006 as well. In the past five seasons, the Bear Cub women
have broken 16 school
records, including setting a new State Record in the 200 Medley Relay, and producing seven national champions. Head Coach Jill McCormick was also named California Community College Coach of the Year in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2004. The
SRJC Swim and Dive Team has been in existence
30 years including numerous state champions and team titles. We compete
in the California Community Colleges League. We belong to the Big Eight
Conference, arguabley one of the strongest conferences in the state, giving us a great slate of dual meets, rivalries,
and a
very fast Conference Championship Meet. We have a
strong women's program that consistently attracts swimmers and divers
at the national level as well as athletes willing to improve to that level.
During our recent seasons we have won two state titles and consistently finished in the top three at our conference meet, including many All American and All Academic student- athletes. Coach McCormick
recruits athletes who not only demonstrate a high level of teamwork,
focus, and discipline in the pool and in the classroom, but who also
like to have fun with their team and enjoy competition.
