Coach Fitzgerald is in his 2nd year as Head Softball Coach at SRJC. He coached softball at the high school level for 18 years where the teams he coached amassed over 350 wins, 17 postseason appearances, 4 section runner-up teams, 4 section champions, 3 #1 rankings in State of California, and a 46 game winning streak. He also played fast pitch softball at a very high level for 8 years. He has coached summer traveling teams in all age groups and his twin daughters are both currently playing Division I softball. His son Justin was drafted in the 11th round of the MLB amateur draft by the San Francisco Giants in 2008. In addition, he coached varsity basketball for 12 years and his teams posted a 245-110 record, 4 League Championships, 12 consecutive post season appearances, 3 NorCal Championship appearances, 1 NorCal Championship and 1 State Championship appearance. He attended SRJC from1976-78 and played basketball earning All Conference and All State honors. He then attended University of Hawaii, Hilo from 1978-80 on a full scholarship where he received All District honors and is a member of the University of Hawaii, Hall of Fame. He also attended Sonoma State University where he received a B.A. in Business Management.

Santa Rosa Junior College Women’s Softball competes in the Big 8 Conference, which is the highest rated conference in California. The softball program is committed to academic success in the classroom and a competitive spirit on the field. The program is highly respected and many players have gone on to suc
cessful softball careers at four-year universities. This year's team has experience and good young talent and, when they believe, could do good things this season. Leading the team is All Conference player Jenna Aussiello, Team captain Nacomai, Spaulding and Red Shirt sophomore 3rd baseman Paige Wheeler. Freshman Amanda Wisdom and Taylor Dericco will share the pitching duties. Great team chemistry is key to thr team's success. Play for each other is their goal and "get it done" is our motto. The program produced a State Championship in 1982 and Conference Titles in 2002 and 2004.
