Monica Ohkubo, ATC, EMT-B
Head Athletic Trainer

Monica OhkuboMonica enters her first year as Head Athletic Trainer after many years of service to SRJC's Sports Medicine/Athletic Training Program. Monica returned to the SRJC athletic training team as an assistant athletic trainer in 2005.  She played softball at SRJC in 2000 and 2001, and also served as a student athletic trainer from 2000 to 2003.  Monica earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Athletic Training from Sonoma State University in 2003 before completing her Master’s coursework at San Jose State in 2005. 

Monica has worked with a diverse range of athletes, from triathletes to ultimate frisbee players.  She has volunteered for the Sonoma County Sol Women’s semi-professional soccer team, and was the athletic trainer for the Santa Rosa Scorchers Women’s professional football team for three seasons.  In her two years at San Jose State, Monica worked as a physical therapy aide at BaySport Physical Therapy, and as head athletic trainer at Silver Creek High School.  Monica has worked for USA volleyball and wrestling youth programs, and has also worked as the athletic trainer for Montgomery High School football.

Monica is qualified as a Medic First Aid Instructor in First Aid and Adult, Child and Infant CPR and AED. She is a certified First Responder and EMT-B.  Monica has also been a member of the California Athletic Trainers’ Association, Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association and National Athletic Trainers’ Association since 2002, and is also a member of the California Community College Athletic Trainers’ Association.

 


Guy S. Mohr, ATC, CSCS, PTA

Guy S. Mohr

Guy joined the SRJC Athletic Training Room as a Certified Athletic Trainer in 2000. He is also employed at a local Physical Therapy practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant, and brings this high level of rehabilitation of sport related injury to the SRJC Sports Medicine/Athletic Training Program.

Guy provides sport fitness and injury management consultation to individuals as well as to local groups and youth sports organizations. He received his bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Long Beach State University, and is a local student-athlete who graduated from Analy High School and Santa Rosa Junior College.

Guy is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Guy and his wife, Kelly, live in Santa Rosa with their two children, Riley and Katie, and their dog, Woody.


Jeremy Vandegriff, ATC
Assistant Athletic Trainer

Jeremy VandegriffJeremy is a recent graduate of Fresno State and also an SRJC Alum.  Jeremy was a student athletic trainer under former Head Athletic Trainer Byron Craighead, and re-joins the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training team this fall as an ATC.  Jeremy’s enthusiasm and passion for athletic training make him an excellent addition to the certified athletic training staff at SRJC.
