The SRJC Men's Swim and Dive Team enters the 2013 season with high expectations after making history in 2012 winning the school's first ever Men's Swimming and Diving State Title, as well as capturing three individual state titles (Trent Williams 100 Fly and Nico Suissa 1M & 3M boards) and four relay titles including a new STATE RECORD in the 200 Medley Relay (Sean Malley, John Bing, Trent Williams, and Nolan Stimple). SRJC has also won four Big 8 Conference titles in the last five years. The
Cubs 2013 squad is led by returning All Americans Alex Xu (Casa Grande HS) and Nicolas Suissa (Lyon, France) who were both major contributors to last season's success. Key incoming freshmen include Andrew Hayes (Granada HS) from Livermore, Clark Hale (El Molino HS) from Sebastopol, and C.J. Chapple (Curtis HS) from University Place, WA. The Cubs also bring in a a strong contingent of six divers to the men's team this season including returning 2012 CCCAA Male Diver of the Year, Nicolas Suissa and All Conference diver Robert Coxon (El Molino HS) from Santa Rosa. Recently, between our men’s and women’s swim teams, we have had over 50 swimmers and divers transfer on scholarship to the four-year level, 25 of which have been to Division I schools. The Santa Rosa Junior College Swim and Dive Team has
been in existence for over 30 years including numerous state champions and
team titles. We compete in the California Community Colleges League. We belong
to the Big Eight Conference, arguably the strongest conference in the state, giving us a great slate of dual meets, rivalries,
and a very fast
Conference Championship Meet. We have a strong men's program that consistently attracts
swimmers and divers at the national level as well as athletes willing
to improve to that level. SRJC is committed to producing All American Student-Athletes. In fact, David Hernandez (All American SRJC Swimmer 08-09) was named the NATYCAA National Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for two-year colleges in 2009 for his high level swimming performances and his perfect 4.0 GPA. Our team consistently breaks records and continues
to compete at a top level against other teams in the state. Coach McCormick
recruits athletes who not only demonstrate a high level of teamwork,
focus, and discipline in the pool and in the classroom, but who also
like to have fun with their team and enjoy competition.
