Head Coach Keith Simons enters his 17th season as the leader of the Bear Cub Football Program. Under Coach Simons, the Bear Cubs have played in 10 bowl games and have won seven bowl championships. Already a member of the Idaho State University Hall of Fame as player, Coach Simons was inducted into the Wayne State College Hall of Fame as a coach in 2002. In 2003 he led the Bear Cubs their first undefeated season in 53 years and finished up as the runner up for the National Coach of the Year. Coach Simons coordinates one of the premier scoring and passing offenses in junior college football. In the past six seasons SRJC QB’s have tossed an amazing 246 touchdown passes and the Cubs have averaged over 42 points per game. Keith and his wife Stefani have two daughters, Shaylyn (24) and Greyson (17).

Coach Ako begins his second year as Defensive Coordinator for the Bear Cubs. If the name sounds familiar, its because he was a stand-out linebacker for the Bear Cubs in 1999-2000. Ako was a two-time All Conference player, and as a sophomore, was named to the Juco All American team. After the 2000 season, he signed with Boise State, and as a senior, Ako played on the 12-1 Bronco team and finished his career in the Humanitarian Bowl vs. Iowa State. Prior to Mendocino Ako spent a year and a half as a linebacker coach at Boise State University. In 2008 Ako served as a linebacker coach at SRJC, and helped the Bear Cubs to an 8-3 record in a bowl win over Sierra College. Ako and wife Lilly are the parents of daughter Saige (5) and son Chauncey III (3).
Doug Smith

Doug enters his ninth year at SRJC. Doug brings a tremendous amount of experience to the staff, in his coaching career, he has coached at every level of football and has coached every position, including head coach. Coach Smith has been the Defensive Line Coach for Coach Lenny Wagner at 3 different colleges, Sonoma State, Mendocino College & SRJC. Together, the two have produced some of the finest defenses in the state. He resides in Santa Rosa with his wife Judy.
Myron Williams

Myron Williams enters his 13th season as the Defensive Backs Coach at SRJC. Prior to SRJC, Myron was a four year starter at corner for Sonoma State University. Known for being one of the most versatile players on the team he played with, and for Lenny Wagner at Sonoma State University before eventually coaching with him there in 05 & 06. Myron is a member of the Sonoma State University Hall of Fame for his efforts on the 1991 Championship team. He and his wife Christine have two children; daughter Kaianna (18) and son Louis (14).
Jerald Demery

Jerald Demery enters his ninth season as the running backs coach at SRJC. Before coming to SRJC, Jerald was a standout out receiver at Palomar College in Southern California and eventually finished his career at Sonoma State University with then teammates Lenny Wagner and Myron Williams. He coached with Coach Wagner and Coach Williams at Sonoma State in 95 and 96 and currently lives with his daughter Madison (18).
Kevin Ballatore
Quarterbacks SRJC 2007-Present
Kevin Ballatore enters his third season as QB coach for the Bear Cubs. Prior to being the QB Coach, Keven coached the receivers for two seasons. Before coaching at SRJC, Kevin was a standout QB for the Cubs. After setting a number of school records for the Bear Cubs, he transferred to South East Missouri State, where he started at QB and finished his degree. He graduated from South East Missouri State in the Spring of 07. Kevin was recently married in June of 09, he and his wife Katie, whom he met at South East Missouri State join the Fanene’s as staff newlyweds.
Nick Sciacqua

Nick Sciacqua enters his third year on staff as the assistant OL coach. Nick was an outstanding center for the Bear Cubs and was selected to the NorCal Conference 1st Team All League as a sophomore in 2008. As a sophomore Nick was instrumental in the Bear Cubs racking-up 535 passing yards in their bowl victory against Sierra College. Nick prepped at Montgomery High School, and after his Bear Cub career, he played one season for Simon Fraiser University in B.C. Canada.
Chris Meredith
Receivers

Chris begins his third year on the staff as the receivers coach. Coach Meredith is a former Bear Cub (1998-2000) who, after playing for SRJC, received a scholarship to The University of Redlands where he started at receiver for two years. He joins the staff after coaching one year at Montgomery High School. Prior to Montgomery High School, Chris coached at Piner High School as a receivers coach in 2004, the Head JV Coach in 2005 and the varsity Head Coach from 2006-2008.
Koli Palu

Coach Palu begins his second year on staff as the Bear Cubs' DL. Born and raised in Sonoma County, Koli played at Rancho Cotate High School and one season at SRJC. Prior to the 2011 season, Koli served three years coaching the offensive and defensive lines at Windsor High School.

Coach Tevaseu enters his second year as LB coach for the Bear Cubs. Logo was a stand-out LB for SRJC in 2001 and 2002. He was a two-time All Conference and All State LB, and helped the Cubs win two bowl game championships. After SRJC Tevaseu signed a scholarship to play LB and special teams for the TCU Horned Frogs. After TCU Logo coaches for three years at Anderson Valley High School, where he assisted in all aspects of their defense. In 2010 Logo coached the LB's at Mendocino College and followed Coach Ako back home to SRJC for the 2011 season.
Todd Smith
Safeties

Coach Smith enters his second year as safeties coach for the Bear Cubs. He began his coaching career at Gavilan College as defensive coordinator in 2004. In that 2004 season, his defense finished as the no. 1 ranked defense in college football. That Gavilan team played the Bear Cubs and QB Kevin Ballatore in the 2004 Clo Bowl. In 2005-2006 Todd was on the staff at Sierra College where the Wolverines won a national record 37 straight games. Coach Smith has also coached at Blinn CC in Texas and at Casa Grande High School. Todd is graduate of San Jose State University.
