Cheer Team Tryouts

Upcoming Tryouts
There will be a meeting for information on the program held April 5th at 12pm in Haehl Pavilion.  Try outs for our upcoming season will be held on April 11th-12th, 3:30-5:30pm in Haehl Pavillion.
Fee
There will be a $20 Tryout fee due on the day of the tryouts.
Procedure
The purpose of tryouts is to pick the most talented athletes who provide the best representation of SRJC. The tryout process will aid the coaching staff in choosing the best all around team.
How to Prepare
Be sure that you are in top physical condition. Our cheerleading team members are competitive athletes who often lift weights in addition to regular practices. The team is required to maintain a workout schedule and maintain a great physical appearance. Flexibility is also very important to making our team.
Skill Requirements

Each prospective cheerleader will be evaluated on the following:

Tumbling: Tumbling is not required but is strongly recommended!

Stunts: All-Girl Extension, Liberty, you must choose the position you will tryout in (flyer, base, spot). Co-Ed Toss Liberty with Cradle, Stunt Sequence of your choice, Full and Double Downs for bonus points!

Motions: Two cheers and a short dance will be taught.

Jumps: Toe Touch, Herkie and Pike.

Flexibility: Right and Left Splits will be evaluated.

What to Wear

Our school colors are scarlet red, navy blue and white. These are the colors that we recommend that you wear at the tryout.

Women: practice shorts and a T-shirt, tank or sports bra, nothing too loose or baggy.

Men: comfortable practice shorts and a T-shirt, no tank tops.

Common Tryout Questions
What is the Try-out Process like? Tryouts will be fast paced. We want to see you keep up with the rest of the applicants while keeping a smile on your face and a great attitude in place.

What are the preferred skills?
The mastery or potential to master collegiate level skills are preferred.

When do we find out who made the squad?
A final list will be posted upon conclusion of tryouts indicating which candidates made the team.

May I tryout for both the dance and cheer team?
Yes, however you will only be placed on one of the teams.
